News

9 December: T-shirts are no longer available.

20 November: T-shirts! Get your t-shirts! Competition t-shirts are available for a limited time.

16 November: The results are in! Congratulations to the top three games: Another Earth, Another Sky, Till Death Makes a Monk-Fish Out of Me!, and Photograph. The full results are available below.

15 November: The judging period has ended. Results will be posted soon.

5 October: Buried! has been removed from the competition.

2 October: CastleMaze has been disqualified due to violation of Authors Rule 4.

30 September: This is evidently the year in which I cannot put installers together. The version of ADRIFT that was bundled with the Windows interpreter installer did not work correctly with The PK Girl. Please download the latest version of ADRIFT or the new Windows interpreter installer before playing the ADRIFT games.

29 September: The game Till Death Makes a Monk-Fish Out of Me! was inadvertently left out of the original Windows games installer. If you downloaded that version before this notice was posted, please be sure to get that game separately.

28 September: You can now download the games. One of the games, Buried! is not yet available, but should be shortly. When it is available, a notice will be posted here.

28 September: The games have all been submitted, and are currently being processed. Watch this space for their imminent release.

1 September: All authors have signed up for the competition. This year, we have ninety-five intents.

8 May: The web site is officially open and prize donations are being taken.

Current Status

The competition has ended, and results are now available. The top three games are Another Earth, Another Sky, Till Death Makes a Monk-Fish Out of Me!, and Photograph. The winners of the Miss Congeniality contest, chosen by the authors themselves, are Till Death Makes a Monk-Fish Out of Me!, Another Earth, Another Sky, and Janitor.

About the Competition

For the last eight years, the readers of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.int-fiction have held a yearly interactive fiction competition. For fans of the old Infocom games as well as for newcomers to the genre, the competition is a chance to enjoy some of the best short adventure games available anywhere.
